    Joining of sentences, using 'Unless"

James will disappoint everybody. He refuses to listen to advice.

    1. Unless James agrees to listen to advice, he will disappoint everybody.

    2. Unless James listens to advice, he will disappoint everybody.

Which sentence is correct in joining the sentences in bold?

The first one, since "refuses" is used.
