    Is it grammatically correct to say:

    Competition among the best fifty songs of the last thirty years
    ?

    That will depend on what you are trying to say. Competition is fierce/Competition became fierce/Competition was fierce/Competition grew fierce/Competition has been fierce

    Or There has been competition/There was competition

    Your choice!
