    Red face English Grammar Question!

What is the difference between these two?

    When was he born?
    When did he die?

Why do we use the verb to be with born and then did with die? What is the explanation to this?

Use form of the verb BE (e.g., am, is, are, was, were) with adjectives, and use forms of the verb DO (e.g., do, does, did) with verbs:

When was he born? He was born. <adjective>
When did he die? He died. <verb>

    Does that help?
