    Smile phrasal verb syntactic analysis

In analysing the phrasal verb -taking things out on - is on considered a preposition in a adv group or is it fused with out in the clause?

Default Re: phrasal verb syntactic analysis

The phrasal verb is: "take out on" (with idiomatic usage).

In other words: it is combination of a verb (take) with both an adverb (out) and preposition (on), any of which are part of the syntax and so are a complete semantic unit.
