    Default Correct word order

    Hello all,

I used this as an example sentence today:

The limousine driver will arrive at 08.50 a.m to pick you up for your trip tomorrow.

I was immediately asked why we say pick you up instead of pick up you (which they had all been using instead) and therefore following my example- why pick your baggage up and not pick up your baggage . Cracking stuff I had to admit and from a beginner group too!!!!

If one of you could give me a pertinent reply for them tomorrow it would be much appreciated!!

    Many thanks,

    Mak

They have different meanings- when it's 'collect', it's separable. When it means 'lift off the floor', it's different.
