    Using of 'back n forth'

Can I use 'back and forth','to and fro', and 'up and down' in these sentences?

    1) The swing swings 'back and forth'?
    2) The man was walking 'to and fro' impatiently (OR) The man was walking 'to and fro'?

    Thanks a lot.

    .
    These work:

    1) The swing swings back and forth / to and fro.
    2) The man was walking to and fro / back and forth / up and down (e.g. the hall) impatiently.
