    The word "sandwich" pertains to Lord Sandwich who was far too busy to eat proper meals. What is the meaning of "proper" here?

    i.e. normal meals (boiled, baked, fried, and other food. )...

    He was so busy playing cards that he had not enough time to sit at a table, using a knife and fork to eat his meal, which would probably have several courses.
