    correct the sentence

    I was post a topic and I wrote :

A lot of men says :
the beautiful women are tall ,
    blondes , soft skin and
    pasteboard voice.
    And some men .. says:
    the beauty is not in
the face but in the soul

    RonBee correct my mistake
    he wrote :
    A lot of men say
    That beautiful women are tall,
Blonde, with a soft skin and a pasteboard voice
    And some men say
That beauty is not in the face but in the soul.

    I think I have to add ( s ) because it's like
he makes - she sayes - it comes
    so why I can't add s?
I believe the ( S ) here is pronoun refers to the men

    Re: correct the sentence

    Hello, Fleur de mort.

Men is a plural noun, so it takes a plural verb:

singular: he says <a man says>; he comes <a man comes>
plural: they say <men say>; they come (men come)

Note, -s is not a pronoun. It's part of a verb, and it tells us that the subject is singular. One, not many.

    Does that help?

By the way, what does pasteboard voice mean?

    Re: correct the sentence

You don’t add ‘s’ to ‘say’ in ‘a lot of men say’ and ‘some men say’. The subjects of the 2 expressions are plural in number. ‘A lot of men’ means many men; ‘some men’ means more than one man. The verb ‘say’ (*says) must agree with the subjects and therefore is correct.

The ‘s’ is not a ‘pronoun refers to the men’. The ‘s’ is a morpheme (an alphabet, a consonant in this case) that is added to the base form of a verb to turn it into (called inflection) its singular form (eg ‘says’ & ‘comes’) to make it agree with the subject.

    Re: correct the sentence

I think "pasteboard" is wrong if these are the meanings you intend. It has a connotation of stiffness in English. Possibilities:

    Velvet voice
    Fluffy voice
    Cottony voice

    Additionally,
pasteboard (as an adjective) - Either something that is made of pasteboard, or something of inferior quality, flimsy or unsubstantial.
