    My father is asleep. He fell aseep just now.

    correct.

    He fell asleep just now. -- AmE
    He has fallen... --BrE

    Heavily asleep or sound asleep, or deeply asleep, or...

    We use "He fell asleep just now" as well.

    Thank you for your replies,

    A junior high school student asked me whether the sentence posted is right.
    I was told by her that her English teacher think the sentence should be "Dad is sleeping. He fell asleep just now."

    I hope you can give comments on it

    Dad is sleeping & Dad is asleep

    Different objects of emphasis: the former is on ongoing action and the latter is on a state.
