    Default Request for the meaning of a combinational term

    Dear Teacher;

    What's the meaning of "Marie Rankin Clarke Professor"? Is it a special position in honor of someone with same name, and is awarded to people? Or something else? It must seemingly be an academic position but I don't know what it really is. Please help me.

    Thanks & Regards
    Fred.

    Some professorships at universities are paid for and named after people or institutions. She seems to have been important to Claremont:
