What do you (students) want to learn?

    Hi All,

I am aiming this post at students in particular.

I have been teaching for some time now, and have found students seem bored when we teach them the same old things - or topics - each lesson.

What exactly do you want to learn?
    What topics interest you?
What aspects of English do you need or find interesting to learn?

Although we ask students this at the beginning of the course, sometimes it pays to ask again!

Any comments are welcome! ( especially from students ).

    Thumbs up Re: .............

What exactly do you want to learn?
    - As a student, I want to learn what you've learned, perhaps more.

    What topics interest you?
    - young people nowadays are more intersted in fun and fanstasy. So you ought to add more fun to you're teaching.

What aspects of English do you need or find interesting to learn?
    - I love the application. I want to see that I'm improving and learning from what you ar teaching me. It exhausts me to learn of all the rules without results. If you teach me all the rules, assure me also that I'll be using them. You can also insert some conversations which may help me in appying those rules. As I said, I want to apply what you are teaching me!

    Hope that helps teacher!

Re: What do you (students) want to learn?

Students do get bored when you are always teaching and saying the same things. I think every once in a while a teacher should change the strategy of his teaching, like do freetalking about his interests and playing games are also fun. What I find real hard is no matter how you adjust to the student, like you are always cheerful while speaking, he doesn´t respond. I mean, he doesn´t talk for almost 10 minutes. He is listening and he knows what to do, but he is not responding. It is very frustrating. I think he doesn´t like me but until now he is in my student list. Help!

I like teachers who are not predictable. They make me expect something new every now and then!

How do you teach then? Students have their differences so a teacher should know how to handle/ teach them based on their individuality.

If students have differences then teachers must have versatility as well. Be flexible with your approach to your students. You can't treat a 50 year-old student like how you treat a 10 year-old child, can you?
