Sounds really difficult....! Is it supossed to be a lesson on just that idiom????
Maybe by setting a task with a situation in which they have to use that idiom, maybe you can teach them some other idioms related to that one, relationship idioms or that sort...

    Dear teachers,

I am a TESOL student having problems with my homework. I have to make a brief lesson plan using the idiom to put up with someone/something. I need to make that lesson plan doing it with Language Focus and Functions. Could you please help me?
I could be wrong (but I don't think so), but I think you are supposed to do your homework. (Note: it is the policy here that we don't do homework.)

    Two things:
    • "Lesson Plan" is your best title for a thread so far.
    • Please don't use urgent again.

    P.S.
Please do a better job from now on of asking questions. (If you are a teacher you should be good at that.)

I think a task-based activity is a good way to introduce this new item.
u can find some interesting ideas in A Framework For Task-Based Learning by Jane Willis [Longman].
    Good luck.
