    Lightbulb next-in-line?

    What does "next-in-line" mean here?
    Here is the context:
In our family Mom ran the household. Dad was the chef. He was our go-to guy, especially for anything grilledóbeef, chicken, pork, you name it. As next-in-line grill man, I assisted him on the back porch, overseeing food prep alongside our classic Weber grill, where Dad would handle the cooking, grilling tongs in hand like a scepter.

By the way , I posted the same thread yesterday, but I couldn't find my thread here. To find my question is always so difficult here. I used "advanced search" before, but I find it doesn't work Could you tell me how to find the user's own thread quickly here? thank u !!!

Dad was the grill man, and he was Dad's helper.

You can't see "My Posts" (on the left side of the page)?

Well, the Next-in-line Grill man here means that the son is an assistant of his Daddy, he interested in cooking and very likely (have potential) to be the next chef (cooker) of the house
