    Re: Adjuncts or Adverb

It's an adverb, not an adjunct. Adjuncts are non-essential parts of a sentence. That is, if you omitted nearly, the meaning of the resulting sentence changes:

Test: Is nearly an adverb or an adjunct?
[1] Is it nearly done? ~ Is it almost done?
[2] Is it done? ~ Is it completed, finished? <meaning changes>

    Does that help?
