    spiral

I've read an article yesterday....there is one expression
    >>From this point on, events spiralled out of control.

I think here events spiralled out of control. means things went out of control. . .
And I wanna know why the author use 'spiral'?

Yes, that means went out of control, but spiraled creates an image of an airplane flying in circles while it descends to earth. It adds a level of seriousness.

You're welcome. Let me just add this to the airplane analogy. The plane would be picking up speed as it falls. The "spiraling out of control" also includes an increasing pace of disastrous events.

The plane really would be picking up speed all cuz of the gravity and it's lost of control...

Very true. Try: The plane really would be picking up speed because of gravity and its loss of control.
