    relative pronouns

    hi just a quick question does anyone know what the difference between the relative pronouns who(m) and that. Using examples would be good so i may be able to understand it a little better. Thankyou

    Yeah that site helped thanks. Just quickly if possible could you please send examples that would highlight when you would use who(m) and NOT that in a sentence. Thankyou

    I'd use 'whom' directly after a preposition (To whom it may concern). I would only use it in something like 'the man whom I saw' in very formal usage.

    Additionally, when the pronoun functions as a personal pronoun, use who:

    Ex: The teacher will choose who will be our class president.
    Ex: The teacher will choose that will be our class president.
