Afternoon = after 12 midday to 6.00 pm
Evening = any time after 6.00pm to approximately midnight.

Additionally, noon is 12:00 p.m., and midnight is 12:00 a.m.

Ex: Let's meet at noon, at 12:00 on the dot.
Ex: I know you got home late, at midnight to be exact, because I heard the clock ring 12 bells.

Noon is one time only, 12:00 p.m.
12:01 p.m. is after noon, so it's in the afternoon.
