As the world becomes technologically advanced, computers are replacing more and more jobs.

Describe some job positions that may be lost because of computers, and discuss at least one problem that may result.

The advanced computer technology makes our life both better and worse. On one hand, it makes us more productive, competitive and profitable. But on the other hand, many jobs have been lost direct due to these automated workers. Though, their great performances enable them to achieve some relatively easy and steady jobs, they may show how inefficient that they are when dealing with unique requests or complex problems.

In fact, many jobs have already been partially or entirely replaced by computers. For example, reservation officers have been greatly reduced due to efficient and convenience computerized booking systems. And voting machines are becoming more popular in many western countries which are already on the job autonomously. Moreover, many humanoid Question-Answer systems have been installed in various areas, such as shopping malls, business buildings, etc. Human customer services are virtually nonexistent these days.

However, no matter how sophisticated computer technologies are, some problems would immediately emerge when it comes to complicated human emotions or friendly interaction. First of all, computerized booking systems cannot answer customers’ further questions or suggest some personal opinions to them. Second, many elder people may feel confused when they are using these voting machines. So that they have to wait until someone approached to help them. Similarly, some people who may be lack of elementary literacy skills, so these Question-Answer Systems seem useless to them.

In the future, some of the job positions cannot be escaped that would be entirely replaced by computers. However, one for sure is that the human intelligence would not be defeated by computers because they are lifeless -- a machine that just combinated with software and hardware.
