You must try to expose yourself to any listening programme, such as News, storytelling, documentary and so forth . From which , you can practise your listening skill. You also need to read extensively to widen your vocabulary. The ability of comprehension will be affected if one lacks of vocabulary proficiency.

This is a very important point. I know it's tempting to say 'But I want to listen/talk. Reading isn't my aim'; but if you increase your vocabulary (through reading) you'll find it easier to make sense of what people say. You'll find it easier to follow the general ideas of what you're hearing ('get the gist of it') if you can pick out more signposts (words and groups of words) along the way.

    Hello Betty,

Have you already listened to all the exercises from that site. I can not believe you. First of all, you should listen to all of then. I do not want to offend you but I have noticed that people usually endeavour to collect as many information as possible. Obviously, this is not wrong, but in my opinion, we have to make the exercises we have and then go on. I have happened, too. For instance, I have collected so many grammar books that I did not not which to start with.

Other listening sites could be useful, too, such as Listen to English around the World.

    I hope it helps,

I have a lot of books with CD and I practise everyday the listening. I do 1 or 2 listening comprehension per a day. It's getting better day by day. You could impove it if you practise a lot.
