    How can I say...?

    Hi folks,

how can I say "how is it going?" in the past!?

... and "how are you getting on?" in the past as well?

    Thanks for your help.

    How was it going?

... and "how are you getting on?" in the past as well?
    How were you getting on?

    Thanks I.A.

Do you know what exactly mean "how is it going?" I think people use this phrase when want to know how are going the thinks someone is doing. Correct?

... and I suppose the other phrase - "how are you getting on?" - is the same. Should be a synonymous. Confirm?

    Thanks again!

    Re: How can I say...?

    Hi Veron1,

what is the context?... good question Veron, actually I don't know the context! Anyway I'll try to explain a bit more:

I am doing my homework in my room. My mother comes to me and ask "how is it going?" (or "how are you getting on?" - if synonymous). She wants to know if I am ok doing my homework.

    Do you understand?

Italian way: (how is it going? and how are you getting on?) Come sta andando?

Italian is a lovely language but I guess is so difficult for you!

Thanks for your help my friend!

The past of this would be "How did it go?" / "How did you get on?"
