    Comprehension

    Dear teachers,

    The following is a dialogue:
W: I wonder if you'd like to answer a few questions. We are doing a market survey.
M: That depends. What sort of questions are they?
Q: What is the probable relationship between the woman and the man?

    a. Interviewer and interviewee.
    b. Saleswoman and customer.
I think the answer should be 'b'. But the key is 'a'. Why?

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you in advance.

    Have a nice weekend.

    Jiang

'I wonder' is a way of starting a conversation that the other might not be expecting. A salesperson wouldn't need to use it. By interviewer, they mean the people who stop you in the street to ask you questions, unless you see them first.

Markey surveys are usually done outside the actual marketplace. They are used by companies to help them determine how to sell products and to whom they have appeal.

'survey' refers to questions and answers, not to the sale of products. Note, M: "What sort of questions are they?"

Sales people do in fact conduct market research/surveys, but given the choice 'Interviewer and interviewee' the better choice would be A.

    All the best, :D
