    Default belated/delayed

Please, tell me what the difference is between a 'delayed' reply and a 'belated' one - if there is any. I can feel there's a semantic difference, but I can't pinpoint it.
    Thank you.

Something that is delayed is put on hold; something that is belated is after the fact.
