    Default "Hit the sauce"

    Hi!
I would like to translate into spanish the idiom in italic: "It's well-reported that Depp based his character on the les-than-coherent Richards, and rumors were flying that Richards hit the sauce before his scenes were filmed...".
    Thanks so much!

    Drank alcohol.

Likewise, you might hear an ex-drinker say, "I'm off the sauce now."
