    What does 'subscribe digest' mean?

I always see it on some web pages, but I cannot get it precise meaning.
    Thank you very much!

You would have to give an example sentence to be sure.

A digest (as a noun) is a periodical that discusses something...like news or business.

So to subscribe to a digest is to register (sometimes for free or sometimes it costs money) your name so that this periodical is available to you.

I've not seen this on any web page I've visited, but its meaning is clear (and I wish I had seen it). When you subscribe to a mailing list (on the internet - Electronic mailing list - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), all mails sent to that group are sent to you too. This is OK when there are only a few posts every day, but some groups generate 100s (or even 1000s) - which can bring your mail server grinding to a halt. So after you subscribe, you need to send mail to the list owners (or to some automated agent like Majordomo), saying you want the digest (a single e-mail once a day, containing all the posts to a particular newsgroup).

The phrase you've seen lets you subscribe and - automatically - request the digest.
