    Default Slang, or something?

Do these phrases sound familiar to you?

    Holy smoke!
    Holy mackerel!
    Holy cow!

    Just a note:

I started the topic a few minutes ago, but it didn't seem to show up anywhere here. So I did it again.

They are familiar to any fans of the old Batman TV series  . Check it out if you don't know what I'm talking about. It was a funny series.

Thanks for your info. I did watch a number of episodes of the TV series when I was a kid. As I was not that good in English back then, I didn't pay too much attention to the dialogues in there.

By the way, it's one of my teachers, presumably a Canadian, who used these phrases interchangeably from to time.

In the Btaman TV series, they would flash words like 'Kerpow' on the screen when Batman hit a villain.
