    Question Knot and not

    Knot and not are pronounced in the very same way, aren't they?

    Yes, they are.

    Context will tell you which spelling you will need.

    what about "clothes" and "close".

    are they pronounced the same way?

    No. When pronouncing "clothes" the 'th' sound is subtle, but it's audible.
