Re: What do you think Japan?

Japanese culture is very aprecciated here in Brasil.
There are a loooooooot of people crazy for mangá and Japanese cartoons.
I loved Dragon Ball Z when I was a teenager.
Have you watched it? I remember I imitated Pan (Gohan's girlfriend).

Hmm, I see the Japaneses as Hiro from Heroes. All japaneses descendants I know (there are a lot living in Brazil), are shy and work with computers. People that have already lived there say that you are a people that work hard, almost all day long, and your tecnology is 1000 times more advanced than the Ocidental. They say that if your pc brokes, you don't need to repair it, you buy a new computer. Is it true?

Oh my God, I forgot to tell about my child hood hero!!! Jaspion!!!

You have no idea how much it was sucessfull in Brazil.

And I also know a little bit of judo, sumo and the samurays.

Re: What do you think Japan?

Well, I've never been to Japan . I don't know much about its history or its language ( simply the gist of it). I've been fed with hackneyed stories or clichés. Strangely enough, I simply recollect Medieval Japan with rigid structures and a dramatic change with the fall of Hirohito. I won't judge anything but to me, Japan has been somehow spirited away. Traditional values and the Japanese culture influenced the Occident -to some extent- in many fields ( the Arts!!!). Nowadays, I can't help feeling at a loss on watching the Japanese clad the occidental way... This is not a judgement, just a feeling.

I've been to Japan a number of times and spent some time there and loved it. Mind you, I wasn't working there so I didn't have to face some of the problems that foreigners find when working there.

Wow Penelope, you know how to fight?!

    That's cool!!

*Ahem* I totally agree with Penelope. Most of people know about Japan is through animation and video games.

Re: What do you think Japan?

I am addicted and curious with their traditional culture after I watched some amazing films about Japan. I think the kimono is very beautiful, and I was shocked by the Bushido. I really want to go to Japan to see more glamorous things.

Smile Re: What do you think Japan?

here japanese culture is almost in every where. from TV to the food.
I love japanese food, well I love those that I have eaten, like for example that bean jam, sushi and others. I like the way they talk (there's many people that don't like it). here issome places that theach karate, judo, and others, and many people go there, but i don't like the violence.
tha best things are from Japan and Taiwan, talking about tecnology, toys, tools, etc.
What I don't like is the image the films give of it. not all the films, but many of them shows a bad image of a Japan I don't wanna know.
I never though of going there becouse I don't like the city, with so many skyscrapers and buildings. I would like to go to Jamaica or some place like that.
I actually like their culture but not for living it

Re: What do you think Japan?

TV games , cars or anim. aren't the tokens of the Japanese culture as I see it . It may be interesting to give a thorough consideration to the likely reasons of such a technologic excellence. It might stem from its own cultural and historical legacy . Unfortunately, I'm not conversant enough with the Japanese culture to go deeper into this analysis. There must be links however. I suppose Japan is so full of nuances that the mere technological side is nothing but a facade...
