    I just saw the term American TV icon on the inernet TV.


    Does it mean American TV idol/symbol? Thanks.

    It depends upon the context, but it probably refers to someone who is very familiar to American TV viewers and has been around for many years.

    For example, Walter Cronkite, the newscaster is an American TV icon, as is the late Johnny Carson.
