Default brings image of the cool cat to mind

However, because of his popularity, the signature pink cat came to be known as the Pink Panter. Even today, the Pink Panther's theme song brings image of the cool cat to mind.

Does the part in bold refer to "reminds people of the mage of the cool cat?" Thanks.

I don't agree though - that theme song reminds me of the film (that had it as a theme), in particular the 'French' accent of Peter Sellers; the image of the cool cat trails in a long way behind the images depicted in the film.

That's interesting. I would visualize the credits with the Pink Panther popping up all over, so it is the image of the cool cat that I am seeing, not the film as a whole.

By the way, what do you mean by different strokes for different folks?

Normally, it has a meaning like "different people like different things", so I stretched it a bit, A.

Well I am going to add a wrinkle to this discussion that no one has discussed before.... What is the "cat" in that phrase.

They are NOT talking about the Pink Panther at all!!!

Think about the music....cool isn't it??? Great vibe! Jazzy music.

So in American slang....what is a cool cat??? It isn't the Pink Panther per se.

A cool cat is a musician who plays jazz.

That cat Miles Davis plays some “cool” jazz. That cat Miles, is “cool.”

    (taken from
    Jazz Slang )

So does the the music from the Pink Panther theme give images of a cool cat....I say yes....but not necessarily that of our pink feline.
