    come to know vs get to know

    Is there any differences between "come to know" and "get to know"

    -I came to know my neighbor.
    -I got to know my neighbor.

    I suppose the second one is more colloquial than the other.
    Both mean the same - to reach a point where you know, realise, or understand something.
