    Default overseas or oversea

What's the difference between overseas and oversea?
Which is the right one to use?

There is no word spelled "oversea" but there is one spelled "oversee".

    Overseas means across the ocean.

I traveled overseas to see the place of my parent's birth.

Oversee means to supervise (usually in a slightly negative way)

The guards oversee the prisoners as they worked cleaning the highway of trash.

    I guess there's been a slip here:

The guards oversaw the prisoners as they worked cleaning the highway of trash.

    or

The guards oversee the prisoners as they work [no "-ed"] cleaning the highway of trash.
