amazes me with her vivid description

The author amazes me with her vivid description of farm life.
I am amazed by/with the author's vivid description of farm life.

Do the above two statements mean about the same?
Second, in the second sentence, which prep. does a better trick, by or with? Thanks.

    Hi, angliholic!

Yes, the two statements mean the same thing.

The use of either by or with will convey the same message.

You are amazed by something; someone amazes you with something.
