Pirate Saofeng:All men are drawn to the sea, perilous though it may be.
Goddess of the Sea:And some men offer desire as justification for their crimes.
Pirate S:l offer simply my desire.
Goddess:And in return?
Pirate S:l would have your gifts, should you choose to give them.
In these sentences, the most confusing thing to me is the word "desire". No matter translating it into "hope" or "request", it seems odd taking the "in return" into consideration.
Why offering hope or request as justification for crimes can be counted as someting worth rewards?
Please, I'm looking forward to anyone who would help!~
