    Yes, I knew the meaning. Does it come from birds going back to their nest or something ?

    For explaining the meaning instead of the origins of the expression I guess. No need to feel sorry! I should have included the definition, if only for the other readers (and maybe I had it wrong, for all I know).

    It more or less means "as far as I know", with a slight difference in use if I'm correct. I could have said "come to that" instead.
