    pass sb off?

    hi everyone,
what is the meaning of "pass sb off" in this sentence?

You can not get rich without passing a lot of people off.

can you give me more example?

    thanks

    Hi Cocobing,
My guess is that it sould read "You can not get rich without pissing a lot of people off"

The expression is not a very polite one, though it is widely used, and means "to irritate someone"

It would make more sense if it said "to pass sb by". In the context you quote it would suggest that people don't get rich by being altruistic but 'ignore' other people in order to concentrate of one's ambition to make money for themselves.
