Does a comma go after SMA-18 and ago?

The doctors dictates on this report:

CBC and SMA-18 drawn a few months ago were normal. Does a comma need to be after SMA-18 and ago? Please help!

    You don't need any commas.

In this case it isn't required, since "drawn a few months ago" does not separate the subject/verb too badly.

but let us take the following example:

CBC and SMA-18, drawn a few months ago after the diagnosis was first confirmed by Dr. Jones, were normal.

You would need commas...do you see the difference?

In that sentence one could just as easily put the first comma after "ago".

I think it is better as I showed it...perhaps you are correct but I'd never write it that way.
