    Smile an environmental advocate

Jane is an environmental advocate. She always encourages us to do more to keep the earth clean.

I suspect that advocate could be replaced with activist or promoter without changing its meaning. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

    Activist is good.

I am not so sure about "promoter".

    Anglika,

I agree that 'activist' is a better choice than 'promoter', but it is possible to be an 'advocate' without being an 'activist'. Would you agree?

A person can advocate an issue without actually taking action.

    Cheers,
