Cool Not violence for violence's sake

Please, what does it mean "not violence for violence's sake." Paragraph where found it talks on peasant people suffering annihilation by dictatorial military goverment in some Asian country. It says:

We've done our research and we're not making this up. It's all factual, documented, not violence for violence's sake. For sixty years, these people have been systematicallly annihilated and nobody knows it. Nobody knows how horrific it truly is.

    Any help of major appreciation.

violence for violence's sake means the violent act being carried out is done only because it is violent. The person(s) or organization committing the violent act gets some kind of perverted pleasure from committing the violence.

not violence for violence's sake in this case there is a reason for the violence. There is method and a purpose. It may not be a good purpose but the acts are not random or done for fun.

    Hope this helps.
