    "To go by gut' means that you act in a way that you think is correct; you follow the directions of the imaginary voice in your head! * When my friends began stealing items from the store, my gut feeling told me to leave the area as quickly as possible. * After forgetting his anniversary,the husband's gut told him that buying flowers for his wife would be a wise thing to do.

    Do these examples help you understand the meaning?
