    Smile at a financial institute/institution

Those people are at a financial institute/institution.

Do both institute and institution fit in the above sample? If not, why not? Thanks.

    Angli,

In this example, institution is correct.

An 'institute' is usually a center/school for advanced learning; especially one concerned with technical subjects. Formosa Institute of Technolgy... or Institute for Medical Research.
