    Question pattern of films

    Hello,

    I have a question.

A movie director says, "I wrote a letter to the crew before I started shooting
which was the pattern of films I had done before and certainly the films I did
later, to kind of put in my head and maybe the crew’s heads, the kind of film
    that we are making."

-- I don't really understand "the pattern of films" here.
Does he mean he wrote a letter to explain tendency of his past films,
or he had a tendency to write a letter before shooting his films?

    Thank you,
    Tara

    Re: pattern of films

I think he is saying that he has written to the film crew to explain how his previous films demonstrate what he wants to say in his films as a guide to how this new film will develop.

    hi,

the "type/kind/style of films" instead of "the pattern of films" would transmit the same idea in a more simple way?

    thanks
