Did you ever/once make an important decision

Did you ever/once make an important decision for yourself?

Do both ever and once fit into the above sample and mean the same? Thanks.

They both fit, but the use of "once" implies you have only made an important decision on one occasion in your life, whereas "ever" leaves it open as to how often you may have made decisions.
