    Default watch

    Hi there,
    Are the following sentences correct?

I set my watch 5 minutes out.
I set my watch 5 minutes ahead.
I set my watch 5 minutes back.
I set my watch 5 minutes in advance of the time.
I set my watch 5 minutes behind the time.

    Many thanks
    pete

All of them could work, if they happened to be the way we said it in English, Pete. I can well imagine some of them as direct translations.

The second and the third ones are the most natural but I'd say the most natural for this situation is

    I set my watch/clock [___] minutes fast/slow.

I set my watch 5 minutes out. (no idea what you mean here)
I set my watch 5 minutes ahead.
I set my watch 5 minutes back.
I set my watch 5 minutes in advance of the time. (this is ok, but no native English speaker would say this)
