Q.Fill each space with either the past tense of the verb in brackets or an auxiliary and past participle.

1.Moiz [had] started at his new school yesterday.(start)

It could be either depending on the surrounding context.

2.They had finished the meal by the time I arrived.(finish) OK
    3.I wish I had worked harder.(work) OK

1.I ran up a flight of stairs. [or pair of stairs].
I don't fully grasp what a pair of stairs might mean as it isn't used in English, AFAIK.

    I would say:
Moiz started at his new school yesterday.
How you could run up a pair of steps is beyond me. Jumped, maybe.

(All the other choices are fine.)
