    sound speech

    There is a need for every believer to present himself holy, righteous, and as a model of good works to God and every man. Everyone should get a strong hold on the doctrine of truth, to avoid faltering in case a need arises for one to answer gainsayers about the belief one holds. One should be able to defend his stand; In sincerity and sound speech able to stop and convince the opposition of the truth that he brings.

    Please correct my sentences.

    My comments:

    I feel "holy" is not a good word in this context - it tends to carry a negative sense if someone presents himself as holy. Others may regard him as holy.

    "..to present himself to God as righteous and as a model of good works to his fellow men."

    "Everyone must have a strong understanding of the doctrine..."

    Do not use "one" and "him" together. "A believer should be able to defend his beliefs, and with sincere speech and sound reasoning..."

Everyone should get a strong understanding of the doctrine of truth, to avoid faltering in case a need arises for one to answer gainsayers about the belief one holds. A believer should be able to defend his beliefs, and with sincere speech and sound reasoning stop and convince the opposition of the truth that he brings.
