    difference in meanings

    what's the difference in meaning between these two sentences: I never smoke cigarettes and I have never smoked cigarettes

    I never smoke cigarettes = I do not smoke cigarettes [does not say if you have smoked previously or not]

    I have never smoked cigarettes = at no point in my life have I smoked cigarettes
