    Which one is correct?

    They could all be used, depending on context.

    [simple statement of fact] Walmart was opened in 1950 // Walmart opened in 1950

    "Walmart is opened in 1950 and soon takes over pole position in the retail world."

    "On examination of the facts, it can be shown that Walmart is/was open in 1950"
