Default Omission of the definite article before superlatives

In the following sentence, we can omit "the" before the superlative:
"What is most important now is to take good care of yourself."

But how about these? Can we omit "the" as well?
Making good friends is most important thing in school,
Making good friends is the most important (without "thing") in school,

    Thank you in advance.

Making good friends is most important thing in school, add "the"
Making good friends is the most important (without "thing") in school, keep "thing"
Making good friends is the most important thing in school.

Put a period, not a comma, after a sentence.

    Thank you in advance.
