I have heard many people say "are you jealous?" and "did he say anything" with a different word stress. For instance, they don't put the word stress on Jealous, but instead, they put it on Jealous.
When people ask a question, are all syllables of the final word of a sentence stressed?
Or, like the case I have just mentioned, they increase gradually like "do re mi?" :o
Or neither? It all depends on the situation?
It seems that when people stress the final word like"do re mi,"
somehow they imply a sense of uncertainty, worry, sarcasm, etc.
I don't know if you guys understand what I am trying to say. :(
Did anyone experience the same situation as I did?
Thank you in advance! :o
We extend words and place different stress on them sometimes. I might move the stress on 'jealous' as a way of making a suggestion- this way, it sounds more open, suggesting that I haven't made up my mind, but am open to thepossibility.
