    Question Frank Sinatra's song

A Frank Sinatra's song is titled "Strangers in the night". Why "in the night"? I think it should be "at night".

    NOT A TEACHER

Prepositions are always misleading, so sometimes there are no hard and fast rules for usage.

We could say: "On the night of November 12......." or
"I was jogging at night (refers to a period of a day)" or
"Strangers in the night" - it probably means that they were surrounded by the night, cloaked we can also say - refers to astological event.

My advice: Songs are not the best to learn English language. Why? "Unbreak my hart" performed by Toni Braxton.
